Nkosana & Nonhlanhla
Nkosana: One morning in 2009 I went to get my hair and nails done when I got a call from Nkosana saying we should meet at a nearby restaurant. I got there and we ordered as usual, but there was something different about Nkosana that day. He called a waiter who came and placed a small box on our table. "Open it, baby”, he said. I opened the box and inside was a diamond ring with matching earrings! I have never cried such tears of joy. Nkosana knelt down, held my hands and then asked me to be his wife, saying that I was the one he wanted to spend his life with. I could barely breathe, but managed to say, "Yes, I would love to be your wife, Mr Mayisela!”

Jo and Elwyn
Jo: I had been on holiday with my mother in Mozambique. Coming back though the International Arrivals at OR Thambo, I saw Elwyn, literally pale with nerves, holding up a large sign with my name on it. I immediately thought this was one of his silly pranks, but as I got closer I noticed how tense the crowd was. Then he switched over the board to reveal the big question: "Will you marry me?" It was truly amazing. When he got down on one knee in front of all those strangers, and presented the ring, the whole crowd started clapping. And to top it off, he'd organised a limo to take us home from the airport.

Natasha and Arnold
Natasha: We live on a farm, about 12 km from Plettenberg Bay. One morning we drove into town to go to the shops, or so I thought. Instead we carried on driving to the airport in Plett, and next thing there's a helicopter and we're flying over the coast and then along to Wittedrift. Eventually we're flying over the farm and, looking out the window, I see – "Tash will you marry me?” written in stones on the hillside! My answer was a definite 'yes'. We then landed on the farm and walked a couple of metres to the river, where there was a table with lilies on it. Arnold got a bottle of champagne out of the river, followed by the appearance of two glasses, and a punnet of strawberries. And next he gave me the ring, which he had designed and had made. I have never been so happy.

Jose and partner
Jose: My fiancé is very fond of cupcakes so I had five chocolate cupcakes made, saying 'Will you marry me?' That weekend we went away to Knysna for my birthday. After supper, we took a drive down to the lagoon and parked the car. I opened the boot where the cupcakes were lying, took the ring out of the box, put it in the last cupcake, and told my fiancé to close her eyes. I walked over to her side of the car, went down on my knees, put the box of cupcakes on her lap and told her to close her eyes. When she opened her eyes and saw what was in front of her, she burst into tears. After all the crying and general excitement, I looked at her and said: 'Can I take that as a yes”. She replied: "Of course you can....fiancé”.
